In 1858 and for 150 years the Point Amour light station has embodied the latest techniques in lighthouse construction and technology. The limestone tower tapering from 6 feet thick base to 4 feet at the top reveals remarkable workmanship. The climb to the top of the tower is part of the experience of visiting the Point Amour Lighthouse Provincial Historic Site, as are exhibits and interpreters to relate the many fantastic stories of the lighthouse, the people that have lived and worked there and the dramas that the lighthouse has witnessed.
